In the wake of an earthquake that has devastated Haiti, Kidney Care Partners (KCP) members have mobilized rapidly with the collection of millions of dollars as well as dialysis equipment, medications, supplies and clinical staff to assist in providing life-saving care to Haitian survivors living with kidney failure and in need of emergency treatment.
We have received numerous inquiries from member groups and others asking how they can contribute in support of the Haiti
relief effort and we commend you for your response. KCP is working closely with the Kidney Community Emergency
Response (KCER) coalition to ensure coordinated efforts. The KCP and KCER member group American Society of Nephrology (ASN), through its Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) and Dialysis Advisory Groups, is
monitoring the situation in Haiti. ASN has also established contact with other kidney-related organizations including
the International Society of Nephrology, the Kidney Community Emergency Response (KCER) Coalition and the Florida ESRD
Network, the National Kidney Foundation, the Sociedad Latino-Americana de Nefrologia e Hipertension, dialysis providers,
and industry as well as the US Departments of State and Health and Human Services.
KCP is referring individuals and organizations interested in contributing financial support to donate
directly to entities specifically dedicated to providing disaster relief to Haiti, such as the William J. Clinton
Foundation or the American Red Cross.
A comprehensive list of organizations collecting funds for this disaster is provided by InterAction through
its website at http://www.interaction.org/crisis-list/earthquake-haiti.
