National Kidney and Urologic Diseases Information Clearinghouse
The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases conducts and supports research on many of the most serious diseases affecting public health.
The Institute supports much of the clinical research on the diseases of internal medicine and related subspecialty fields as well as many basic science disciplines.
National Quality Forum (NQF)
NQF is a nonprofit, membership organization whose mission is to improve the quality of American healthcare by:
- building consensus on national priorities and goals for performance improvement and working in partnership to achieve them;
- endorsing national consensus standards for measuring and publicly reporting on performance; and
- promoting the attainment of national goals through education and outreach programs.
NQF also convenes the National Priorities Partnership and the Measure Applications Partnership to assist the Department of Health and Human Services with identification and implementation of the National Quality Strategy and pre-rulemaking guidance on the selection of performance measures for public reporting and performance-based payment programs, respectively.

United States Renal Database
The United States Renal Data System (USRDS) is a national data system that collects, analyzes, and distributes information
about end-stage renal disease (ESRD) in the United States.
The USRDS is funded directly by the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) in conjunction with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS, formerly HCFA).
USRDS staff collaborates with members of CMS, the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS), and the ESRD networks, sharing datasets and actively working to improve the accuracy of ESRD patient information.
